How do I Buy or Sell Cryptocurrency on Current?

Current makes buying crypto easy! Once you download the Current app and agree to the terms and conditions, create and fund your spending account. Once your account is funded, you’ll be able to instantly purchase crypto. 

To Buy Crypto: 

  1. Head into the Current app and tap on the Crypto icon 
  2. Select the coin of your choice and enter the amount (in USD) that you’d like to buy 
  3. Tap Buy after reviewing your order 
  4. You’re now a crypto owner! 

You’ll see your total Crypto balance after the purchase has been made and a receipt of the transaction can be found in your Transaction History.  Your purchase may be in a pending state after being made, you’ll be notified once the transaction settles. 

Note: All cryptocurrency trades are final and cannot be reversed.

To Sell Crypto: 

  1. Head into the Current app and tap on the Crypto icon 
  2. Select a coin and amount that you’d like to sell
  3. Tap Sell after reviewing your order 

After selling your crypto, the funds will be instantly available in your account, ready for any purchases using your Current card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Current charge trading fees? 

  • Nope! Unlike many crypto platforms, we don’t charge trading fees on top of your crypto transaction. There is a spread (or margin) between the market price and the exchange rate between US dollars and the crypto asset displayed to the user, similar to most crypto exchanges. 

Do I need to purchase an entire coin?

  • Nope! You only need as little as $1 in your Current account to get started. You’ll be able to purchase part of a coin, referred to as ‘fractional ownership.’

How do I view my crypto transaction history? 

  • If you want to see the history of your transactions of a specific coin, you can follow these steps: 
      1. Scroll to the bottom of the Crypto tab and tap See All Crypto
      2. Select a coin that you’ve previously purchased
      3. Tap Trading History to view your entire transaction history for that specific coin 

My crypto transaction didn’t go through. What should I do? 

  • If you receive an error when trying to buy a coin, check your account balance to make sure that you have enough funds to cover the transaction. If you do have enough funds to cover the transaction and are still unable to make a purchase, please allow 10-15 minutes before retrying the transaction.
