How do I deposit a check into my Current Account?

Before You Start

Make sure your check meets these requirements:

  • The check must be made out to you
  • The check must be $2,000 or less
  • The check must be less than 6 months old and not post-dated
  • You must have already made at least one successful deposit from another funding source before using mobile check deposit for the first time

How to Deposit a Check

  1. Sign the back of your check, then write "Current/Mobile Check Deposit" below your signature. Skipping this step may cause your deposit to be rejected.
  2. Open the app and tap the $ icon.
  3. Tap Deposit a Check.
  4. Enter the check amount and choose where you'd like the funds deposited. You can send funds to your spending balance or to any shared account you manage.
  5. Tap Add Image and photo the front and back of your check.

Note: Any check that you deposit must be written out to you, and it can take up to 5 business days to clear. The maximum amount allowed for check deposits is $2,000. Deposits made after 4 PM EST will begin processing the following business day.

Tips for a Clear Photo

Getting a clean image helps your deposit go through without issues:

  • Place the check on a dark, contrasting background so the edges are clearly visible
  • Use the flash if needed — it turns on automatically in low light
  • Start farther away and slowly move closer; the photo will be taken automatically once it's in position

Checks We Can't Accept

We may decline to accept any check image you submit through Mobile Deposit at our sole discretion. You agree that you will not scan and attempt to deposit any of the following:

  • Travelers checks
  • Starter checks or counter checks (checks from a teller window)
  • Checks payable to any person or entity other than you (i.e., third party checks)
  • Checks containing alterations, illegible items, fraudulent checks, or checks that you should have known or have reason to believe were fraudulent
  • Checks that have been previously deposited at another institution via physical item, image or electronic funds transfer
  • Checks from financial institutions located outside of the United States; checks that are not payable in U.S. dollars
  • Checks that are more than six (6) months old
  • Checks that are post-dated, or payable on a date in the future
  • Substitute Checks (a digital reproduction of the front and back of an original check)
  • Remotely created checks (a check created by a merchant with a buyer’s checking account number on it, but without the buyer’s original signature)
  • Non-negotiable instruments, such as promissory notes.

Can I cancel my check?
